What is a high-impact event?
A release likely to trigger strong volatility: NFP, rate decisions (Fed, ECB, BoE…), inflation (CPI), GDP, PMIs. They're flagged red (high) or amber (medium).
Should you avoid trading during the news?
Many traders avoid the minutes around a major release (wide spreads, slippage). Others specialise in it. The right answer depends on your strategy — backtest it with and without the news to decide.
